Прилагательные, употребляющиеся только в составе сказуемогоНекоторые прилагательные в английском языке могут встречаться только в качестве именной части сказуемого и не употребляются в качестве определения перед существительными.1) К таким прилагательным относятся:а) ряд прилагательных, начинающихся на a-:ablaze, adrift, afloat, afraid, aghast, ajar, alike, alight, alive, alone, amiss, ashamed, askew, asleep, astir, astray, averse, awake, aware, awashThe lamps were alight — Лампы горели
б) прилагательные near, ill, faint, poorly, content, glad, upset и прилагательное well при указании на самочувствиеI feel well — Я чувствую себя хорошо
2) При необходимости в качестве определения при существительном используются другие прилагательные со сходным значением. Либо прилагательные, употребляющиеся только в составе сказуемого, ставятся после существительного.He was afraid — Он был испуган (Но: He has a frightened look — У него испуганный вид)
